Behind the Brush

Shivangi Dutt’s journey with makeup began in childhood — long before it became her career. At just five or six years old, she would wait for her mother to leave the house so she could sneak into her makeup drawer and draw on her face, exploring colors and textures with a sense of wonder. What started as playful curiosity has since evolved into a deeply rooted artistic pursuit.

Shivangi graduated from Southampton Solent University, where she studied the art and conceptualization of makeup in depth. She was awarded the Kryolan Prize for Innovation in Practice, a recognition of her ability to think creatively and push boundaries in her application and approach — blending imagination with skill to create meaningful, standout work.

Over the years, she has built a versatile portfolio across editorial, fashion, bridal, and celebrity makeup. Shivangi has worked on photoshoots, brand campaigns, backstage shows, and with renowned photographers, consistently delivering work that balances creativity with precision. Her celebrity clientele includes Tulsi Kumar, Zoya Afroz, Meera Chopra, Kanika Malhotra, and Mia Lakra, among others.

She has also led backstage makeup teams, and conducted masterclasses both offline and online, in addition to teaching regular in-person courses. As an educator, Shivangi is known for her emphasis on originality and artistic depth — encouraging aspiring artists to explore makeup as a powerful medium of expression, not just a technical skill.

Today, Shivangi continues to grow her practice and share her knowledge through her newly launched online learning platform, where she cultivates a space for creativity, education, and community.
